Osman is one of the privileged audiophiles: he has a (7 x 5 m) WAF free listening room at the lower level. This room is not solely a listening room but also a movie room with its separate "home theater" system (not covered here). Osman says that the home theater is entertaining the whole family and thus giving them the opportunity to do things together. They usually watch movies twice a week.

Notice the similarity of Osman's system with Cemil Gandur's: Magnepan 3.5's driven by Jadis Defy 7 in both systems.

Osman prefers the analog sound and listens more often to LP's (in fact he's got twice more LP's than CD's). He is a member of Istanbul Hi-Fi Club and listens to jazz (70%), classical (20%) and rock (10%) music.

The CD's (or LP's) he uses for evaluation purposes are the followings:

  • John McLaughlin Trio / Que Alegria / Verve 837 280-2
  • Trilok Gurtu / Living Magic / CMP CD50
  • Sonny Rollins / Saxophone Colossus / LP 7079

Osman's comments about his System:

AA: "Osman, how would you describe your system's sound?"
OU: "It has a natural mid range, wide and deep sound stage and good detail."
AA: "Do you think there is room for improvement?"
OU: "Yes, I would wish to have a little more bass control."
AA: "Have you got plans for upgrading?"
OU: "I'm thinking about Magnepan MG20, but waiting to see the new replacement model for it [ this comment is also in line with Cemil Gandur's]. For the digital, I'll wait and see."
