Faruk has a "Music only" room (10 x 5 m) in his basement which is not only a Music reproduction but also a Music "production" room: percussion, piano and Hi-Fi being the key players. Faruk plays percussion and practices nearly every day. Click here to see him in action. The interior was designed by Faruk's wife Fusun who is an architect (so there is practically no WAF to worry about). The room's walls and ceiling have heavy acoustical insulation in order to keep the music (or the noise for others) in.

His system is placed in the center of  a long wall and consequently the speakers are firing towards the width of the room and thus they are kept far away from the corners. An ideal situation indeed! The bass units of the Genesis 5 speakers are driven by Genesis' own amplifier, the mid and tweeters are driven by D&B Lab tube amplifiers (designed and built by Deger Terem) in bi-amp configuration.

Faruk listens to jazz (40%), blues (30%),  rock (20%), classical (10%) music.

The CD's (or LP's) he uses for evaluation purposes are the followings:

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan / Couldn't Stand the Weather / EK 64425
  • Leon Parker / Belief / 485138-2
  • Eagles / Hell Freezes Over / GED 24725

Faruk's comments about his System:

AA: "Faruk, how would you describe your system's sound?"
FE: "It has body and naturalness."
AA: "Do you think there is room for improvement?"
FE: "For symphonic music I would have prefered bigger sound stage and some more depth."
AA: "Have you got plans for upgrading?"
FE: "No, not for the time being."
