Turgay's system occupies one of the best corners of his (6 x 5 m) living room. This fact automatically makes you think about WAF. As his wife Demet was around during my visit, I had the chance to get her opinion directly (in most cases it is my audiophile friend who speaks for his wife which sometimes makes you think: "isn't this too good to be true" :-). She told me that she envies her husband for having a hobby and that's why she gives all her support and tries not to interfere. Later on, after she left, Turgay confessed me (big mistake!) that as long as she is not aware of the amount of money he spends there is no problem.

Turgay is using a lot of accessories and tweaks, together with some electronics that I came across for the first time in Istanbul. Here I'm speaking about the famous French electronics YBA (YBA stands for the designer and owner Yves Bernard Andre).

Turgay is a member of Istanbul Hi-Fi Club and listens to jazz (80%) and classical (20%) music.

The CD's he is using for equipment evaluation purposes are the followings:

  • At the Deer Head Inn / Keith Jarrett / ECM 1531
  • Crescent Crawl / Bruce Katz Band / AQ CD1012

Turgay's comments about his System:

AA: "Turgay, how would you describe your system's sound?"
TC: "It has articulate bass, well balanced spectrum, good sound stage, natural mids and treble."
AA: "Do you think there is room for improvement?"
TC: "I'd like to have more inner detail in the mids and more tube like mid and high frequency tonality."
AA: "Have you got plans for upgrading?"
TC: "I would like to upgrade the front end which I think is very important, but it still seems early. I'm also considering the Avalon Arcus speakers."
