Huseyin has been in this hobby for more than ten years. Two years ago he sold most of his equipment and packed the remaining ones. He also stopped buying CD's during the same period. This long fasting period ended three weeks ago. Why did it start and how did it end? Well his reason for quitting was partly WAF, partly FAF (Family Acceptance Factor, meaning the other members of the family) and partly NAF (Neighbor Acceptance Factor). Thank you Huseyin, for your contribution to audio related expressions. FAF and NAF are totally new to me. His biggest dream was to own a dedicated listening room, entirely free from WAF, FAF and NAF. The dream became reality when three weeks ago he moved to his new house which had an ideal room in the basement that he could use as a listening space (the rest of you: don't stop dreaming!). As he had sold most of his electronics with the exception of the speakers and the CD player, he first ran to a Hi-Fi dealer to buy the missing items. One of the items that he very recently bought impressed him the most: it was PS Audio Power Plant 300 (power re-generator). Only his CD Player and his preamp are connected to it. He says that it particularly improved the bass performance making it tighter and adding slam. But the improvements were not limited to bass area: soundstage, detail, tonality (tube like he says) were all much better with PS Audio Power Plant (I could not witness the on and off testing but I believe him). The other big change was switching to a Solid State amp (Krell FPB 600) from tube (ARC VT-100). He says there are pluses and minuses. He thinks that the biggest plus (of SS) is in the area of slam. Huseyin is a member of Istanbul Hi-Fi Club. He listens to jazz (60%), classical (25%) and to other (15%) music. The CD's he uses for equipment evaluation purposes are the followings:
